What to expect in a coaching package

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.”

I often describe coaching as a strengths-based approach that centers inquiry. I help you dig below the surface and draw connections that are easy to miss when you’re focused on daily demands, so that you can move forward strategically and in a way that’s aligned with your values.

We start by setting one or two overarching goals to focus on.

In our initial consultation, we discuss a brief overview of the challenges you’re dealing with. That’s part of making sure that we’re a good fit to work together. But we only have so much time to dig into this in a consultation!

In our first coaching session, we’ll dig more deeply into that and start digging below the surface. By the end of the session, we’ll confirm the overarching goals that we’ll focus on for the full coaching commitment.

In our second session, we’ll focus on a deep dive into what’s most important to you – your core values. We’ll explore how those values are showing up and being challenged, and how you want to bring those values into your work.

You bring the agenda, I bring the process

After our first two sessions, you’ll bring the agenda and I’ll bring the coaching process. That means making sure that we have a productive conversation that helps you identify a path forward and making sure that we’re keeping your overarching goals in mind.

I’ll ask you to fill out a coaching session prep form between 2 to 24 hours before each session to prompt you to reflect on what will be most useful for you to focus on.

During each session, we’ll work through some next steps for you to work on between sessions. What this looks like varies by your personality and needs – it could be creating a vision board, doing some outside reading, drafting a plan for something, keeping a daily journal, or any number of other possibilities. Completing this work ensures that you get the most out of this coaching package.

Build your path forward

Before we end our time together, we’ll build a plan for you to continue growing and stay on track on your own.
